Somebody has to sell the sword

Every dungeon crawl has a hero. Every hero has a problem, which is that they just walked into a hole in the ground with a rusty dagger and a dream. That’s where you come in.

In Dungeon Shopkeeper you’re the trader, not the hero. You sit behind the counter, outwit the adventurers who come through the door, acquire legendary items and build a merchant empire. Heroes get the glory and the Dexterity saves. You get the gold.

You already know this economy

The party clears a room, strips the corpses and drags a sack of mismatched boots, forty-seven copper pieces and a +1 something back to town. Somebody has to be on the other side of the counter when that happens. In your usual campaign he’s an NPC with no inventory limit and a suspiciously good memory for faces. Now he gets a board, a stack of cards and an ego.

What’s in the box

  • A game board showing the medieval shop where you do business.
  • Adventurer cards with special abilities.
  • Character cards with unique adventurer types.
  • Magical item and weapon cards, which you will be selling to people who definitely needed them yesterday.

The cards and gameplay shown here are prototype, so the art and the numbers will move. [CONFIRM: player count and play time.]

Made for people who’ve been at this a while

Dungeon Shopkeeper is for experienced board gamers, TTRPG tables and anyone who has ever argued about encumbrance for forty minutes. It’s funny on purpose. [CONFIRM: complexity level in a phrase gamers recognise, for example “medium weight”, only if that’s accurate.]
